Version I, Part I
The Phantom raced behind the wall of the mirror and kept crying, desperately looking around, trying to escape the sound
of Raoul and Christine singing. Tears rolled down his deformed face and he cursed himself and his face. He would never love
again, all it caused was pain. He still heard the song, ringing in his ears.

Raoul and Christine got to the edge of the lake and raced up the stairs into Christine's dressing room, not even exchanging
a word about what happened.
Finally they looked at each other and in each of their eyes told what they felt.
Christine's eyes had a deep sadness in them. She felt so sad about how the Phantom loved her but there was no way she
could love him.
Raoul's eyes showed anger. The Phantom had tried to take his life and his love! But he would forgive him for the way
it ended out. The Phantom prooved to have a heart after all.

The Phantom finally reached his house, the house that no one would ever find. He searched everywhere for the mask, the
mask that covered his distortion. The mask he had just invented that made him look normal. Now, would Christine see him on
the street and recognize him? It made him look like a normal him. The same face was on the other side. The same face. Surely
Christine could love him now. Surely, she could. But then, the song played in his ears. He clenched the ring in his hand until
it imprinted its face on his flesh. He knew Christine would never love him, not when Raoul was around! Raoul, the name sent
a bitter hatred through him, a hatred which no one could explain. One that wanted to kill, but would not. One hatred that
really was deep depression of a geuinus.
